here is how it happens:
a young girl finds herself standing alone. her world is broken. her loved ones are dead, and the blood is dripping from her fingers.
SIX WEEKS OF WINTER ⁂ AT THE EDGE OF A KNIFE LAUGHING opens its eyes and looks out of her heart and offers her a deal.
"Try again," it says. "You can go back. It can be different. Write your story and make sure it is true."
The girl begins again. SIX WEEKS OF WINTER guides her hands and fills them with magic, and the world bends for her. She writes truthfully. She writes down to the bone.
She writes herself into being alone, again, standing before a corpse. She writes this because it is true.
It is louder this time. It winds back the clock. It replaces the pen in her trembling hand, and it tells her to write what is true.
